Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

Beginning in 2010, vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
technology will require the use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
This new technology exists to lower emissions in order to improve our environment while also complying with the latest standards of the Clean Air Act. We are excited to offer
Air1® DEF from Yara,
the leading DEF producer in the world, along with a complete line of dispensing equipment.
What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a very pure, aqueous, solution of urea which meets the automotive industry specification defined by ISO 22241. It is a clear liquid similar in appearance to water.
DEF is safe to handle and use; it is not explosive, flammable, toxic, or subject to any hazardous product regulations. The product can be purchased in a variety of bulk or individual sizes.
- 330 Gallon IBC
- 275 Gallon IBC
- 55 Gallon Drum
- 2.5 Gallon Jug
- 1 Gallon Jug
- Dispensing Equipment
Storage facilities can be tailored to suit customer needs allowing for the usual precautions to prevent spillage into nearby drains and watercourses. DEF has an official shelf life of 12 months
if the stipulated storage conditions are observed. However, DEF that has been stored for longer than 12 months may still be perfectly usable and simply needs to be analyzed to check that it
still conforms to the DEF specification. Yara has partnered with U.S. distributors to ensure a guaranteed supply of DEF throughout North America under the brand name Air1®. Air1® is a unique concept
developed by Yara to ensure a secure supply of the high-quality DEF needed in your Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.
Air1® is increasingly available at public filling stations, truckstops, automatic filling stations, chemical distribution depots and most major truck manufacturers' dealerships.
Yara's partnership with Pacer Fuels, offers you the most efficient and economic DEF supply. With a comprehensive distribution network of more than 100 sites, Air1® is never far away
from your site. Air1® can also offer tank level monitoring using telemetry, technical services, operator instruction and flexible financing arrangements.
Current Emission Standards
Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in heavy-duty vehicles are being reduced further by the introduction of the new emission standards in the United States.
The last stage of the Clean Air Act will be implemented beginning January 2010. This requirement to reduce emissions will start with the 2010 models.
To comply with these emissions, vehicle manufacturers are introducing vehicles equipped with SCR technology. A new product called DEF is used with the SCR technology
to reduce the emissions from the exhaust gas of the vehicle.
Pacer Fuels is excited to offer DEF available from Air1, a professional, state-of-the art and flexible DEF solution provider. Air1 is the market leader in Europe where SCR
vehicles have been widely adopted and is now available throughout North America.
